Calling is the fastest way to reach a contractor. If you'd rather write it out, send the form and a contractor will call you back.
Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your street address and town, so the request reaches a contractor that covers it
- Whether the house is on a slab or has a crawl space, if you know
- What you've seen: cracked brick or drywall, sticking doors, sloping or bouncy floors
- When you first noticed it and whether it changes between summer and winter
- Any earlier foundation work, warranty papers or inspection reports
Cracks spreading quickly, or a door that jammed shut overnight? Sudden change can point to something besides slow soil movement, such as a leak under the slab. Keep people out of that room and call.
